Blue Morris of Pink Flamingo Burlesque has been creating some videos with Redbud Films lately and one of their recent videos has Blue performing his guitar arrangement of the burlesque classic, "Harlem Nocturne."
During our performance at the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival this weekend, I recognized Pete McMartin in the audience. McMartin is a columnist for the Vancouver Sun, and a rather good one at that. I saw him jotting things down in a little notebook, which I figured was good news for us.
Saturday's newspaper contained a wonderful column all about Shaboobie Boobarella, Pink Flamingo Burlesque, and the festival.
Pink Flamingo Burlesque performed on Shaw TV's Urban Rush program today. The band played the song "Minnie the Moocher" and Shaboobie danced, but of course wasn't allowed to actually strip on TV. Yeah, it's a family show.
Humorously, Fiona, one of the hosts, introduced us and told the audience, "kids, leave the room now!"
We're not allowed to post the video to websites, but I did manage to get some quite photos of us on my cellphone.
TV Week Magazine named Pink Flamingo Burlesque one of the "Top 10 things to do in Vancouver."
The article features 10 things to do in Vancouver and we're listed as number 2! They say Pink Flamingo Burlesque "fearlessly explores a new frontier of musical cabaret, calling us "Best Burlesque."

Our very own Shaboobie Boobarella was interviewed by Stephen Quinn on CBC radio's "On the Coast" program (stream or download below). Also in the interview is Shaboobie's grandmother, Misty Morningstar, who was a burlesque performer back the heyday of Vancouver in the 1950s.
